What do we do?
We are a group of individuals who are working together to review and contribute to the development of local Maternity Services here in Calderdale and Huddersfield. We very much value the views and ideas of women, partners and families who have used these services (from conception through to baby’s first birthday) as this helps to shape future developments to services e.g. midwifery, health visiting, antenatal classes, breastfeeding support, mental well-being, etc…
We meet approximately every 2-3 months, and when we do, we’ll always discuss feedback that we have received. As themes emerge we look to see how local services can be further developed, and we take steps to help this happen.
Meet the Team
The MVP is run by a small group of local mums (dads and partners are very welcome too!), and currently includes representatives from local Midwife Teams, Locala Health Visiting, local Mums , Partners, Calderdale Public Health, Kirklees Public Health, Talkthru, SWANS, Auntie Pam’s, the Brunswick Centre, Patient Experience team at CHFT, (Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust), Healthwatch and Huddersfield University Midwifery department.
We are passionate about our local maternity services and it is great to be able to come together to identify and progress ways in which services can be further developed. However, to do this we very much rely on feedback from people who have used, or are currently using these services. At least a third of the team are individuals who have used maternity services here in Calderdale and Huddersfield or are individuals who represent women and families who have used these services.
